Mijoo KIM was born 1983 in Seoul, South Korea. She is a Korean visual artist who is currently based in New York. She is a multidisciplinary artist and educator. She creates documentary and conceptual bodies of artwork, The Mother of the Sea, Re-Figure and Role-play. She received her Master of Fine Art emphasis in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her Bachelor of Fine art with an emphasis in photography from the School of Art Institute of Chicago, IL in 2010.
Among others her works have been published nationally and internationally in the following online publications: Huffington Post, Business Insider, National Geographic; Indy 100 by The Independent News, Grazia Fashion Magazine, Lens Culture, Life Framer, SBS and so on.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally such as Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, Ackland Museum, Center for Photography at Woodstock, Asia Contemporary Art Show in Hong Kong 2015, Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, and Seoul ffffAuction Center Gallery in Seoul, South Korea. She was in Artist in Residency at The Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW) in 2014. Her works are included in the Permanent Collection of The Center for Photography at Woodstock
